The Malaysian Elephant Appeal was a charitable fund that was originally set up and managed by the Rotary Club of Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur in cooperation with the Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks to raise funds to assist the elephants at the centre at Kuala Gandah. In 2002, management of the Fund was transferred to the Rotary Club of Temerloh. The Malaysian Elephant Appeal itself was a non-profit and non-governmental entity and was completely run by volunteers. 100% of all donations went directly toward enhancing the welfare of the elephants at the centre and strengthening public awareness of Asian elephants and environmental issues. In 2009, the Malaysian Elephant Appeal will be winding down operations and so will no longer be accepting donations. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and provided funding for Malaysian Elephant Appeal projects! We believe that they have all been very successful and made important improvements at the Kuala Gandah elephant centre. Your support made it possible!
